Garden Hills Pool will soon be hiring for 2026! 

 

We are excited to partner again with Dynamo Pool Management, our pool operator and staffing director!  This partnership brings not only stream-lined hiring and scheduling for our staff, but also a team of expert pool technicians to keep our mechanical systems purring, and water safety instructors to perform on-going training workshops with our guards.

 

The Garden Hills Pool Board is seeking candidates who are ready and willing to learn, have great communication skills, show initiative, and can work well in a team environment. Pool Rat candidates must be 14 years old; Lifeguard candidates must be 15 years or older.

 

Interested applicants should review the job descriptions below and submit the relevant Interest Form as the initial point of contact.

 

Once the Interest Form is received, candidates will be contacted with information about interviews and next steps in late winter/early spring.

 

Descriptions of Positions

 

♦ Pool Rat

 

Pool Rat is an excellent first job for those who wish to get experience in the work force. Candidates must be at least 14 years old, and able to work a minimum of four weeks during the summer (Mid-May through Mid-September), including being available if needed for 1-2 of the 3 summer holidays.

 

Pool Rat candidates who are called to interview are expected to provide a character reference from a non-related adult.

 

Pool Rat Staff may seek Lifeguard certification at the age of 15, and move into a Lifeguard role mid-summer if approved by Management.

 

Listed below are a few of the many duties and tasks that you will be expected to complete as a Pool Rat:

  • Maintain control of entrance, engaging with patrons in a professional manner
  • Collect daily admissions and subscription fees and forms
  • Maintain a proper sign-in log
  • Learn prices and functions of the concessions platform
  • Follow cleaning and sanitation procedures to maintain the concession stand according to safety and health standards
  • Follow safety guidelines in handling concessions and hot food
  • Learn how to operate the grill and make a world-famous GHP Burger!
  • Carry out various chores such as sweeping, power washing, emptying trash cans, watering plants, cleaning the bathrooms, etc.
 

The Pool Rat Interest Form Link will be enabled on January 1, 2026.

 

Pool Rat positions are in high demand! Interested candidates should submit an Interest Form as soon as possible, as the link will be closed when capacity is reached. At that point, a Wait List link will be available. 

 

Hired Pool Rats in good standing who wish to return as a Pool Rat for a second summer are welcome! We realize that Lifeguarding is not for everyone, and we value the continuity and expertise that returning staff brings. ♦ Lifeguard

 

Full/Part-time Lifeguard Candidates must: Be 15 years old; obtain Lifeguard & CPR/First Aid Certifications; be able to work a minimum of five weeks during the summer (Mid-May through Mid-September), including being available if needed for 1-2 of the 3 summer holidays.

 

If you are interested in lifeguarding, you are encouraged to seek out Lifeguard Training classes NOW! There are several outfits around Atlanta that offer courses, including the Red Cross, and our Pool Management company, Dynamo. You may also check into free certification through City of Atlanta Parks; here is a direct link to the Aquatics page at www.atlanta.gov/iparcs. Restrictions may apply.

 

Listed below are a few of the many duties and tasks that we expect our Lifeguards to complete:

  • Prepare pool facility for opening
  • Maintain facility safety at all times and instruct patrons on safe behavior
  • Administer First Aid/CPR when needed
  • Attend mandatory, periodic lifeguarding skill review sessions
  • Perform swim tests for our annual camp visitors
  • Keep the bathrooms tidy, sanitized and well-stocked throughout the day
  • Carry out various chores such as pool vacuuming, skimmer cleaning, brushing tiles, power washing, watering plants, etc.

Once you have submitted a Lifeguard Interest Form, you will be contacted by Dynamo Pool Management to set up an interview.  Interviews for Lifeguard positions will continue throughout the summer.
