Summer Employment for the 2022 Season

 

The all-volunteer Garden Hills Pool Board is working hard to ensure that everything is in place for Summer 2022. We are pleased that there has been incredible interest in employment! We are currently preparing to interview candidates for Lifeguard and Pool Rat positions. We are always seeking qualified and enthusiastic staff interested in joining our team!

 

All candidates must be willing to learn, have great communication skills, work well in a team environment, take on new tasks when asked by Management, and commit to showing up to assigned shifts.

Descriptions of Positions

 

♦ Pool Rat

 

Pool Rat is an excellent first job for those who wish to get experience in the work force. Candidates must: Be at least 14 years old; obtain CPR/First Aid Certifications; be able to work a minimum of four weeks during the 2022 Season (Mid-May through Mid-September)

Pool Rat Staff are allowed to get lifeguard-certified at the age of 15 and move into a Lifeguard role mid-summer if approved by Management

 

Listed below are a few of the many duties and tasks that you will be expected to complete as a Pool Rat:

  • Sell concessions
  • Keep the bathrooms clean throughout the day
  • Carry out various chores on the pool deck (i.e. sweeping and emptying trash cans)
  • Keep certain parts of the pool clean (i.e. skimmers and algae on sides)
  • Learn prices and functions of the cash register
   

♦ Lifeguard

 

Full/Part-time Lifeguard Candidates must: Be 15 years old; obtain Lifeguard & CPR/First Aid Certifications; be able to work a minimum of five weeks during the 2022 Season (Mid-May through Mid-September)

 

Listed below are a few of the many duties and tasks that you will be expected to complete as a Lifeguard:

  • Prepare pool facility for opening
  • Maintain facility safety at all times and instruct patrons on safe behavior
  • Greet patrons entering the facility and maintain a proper sign-in log
  • Collect daily admissions and subscription fees and forms
  • Help maintain pool grounds
  • Learn prices and functions of the cash register
 

♦ Manager/Assistant Manager

 

Manager/Assistant Manager Candidates must: Be 18 or older; obtain Lifeguard & CPR/First Aid Certifications; be able to work a minimum of six to seven weeks during the 2022 Season (Mid-May through Mid-September)

 

In addition to the duties listed for the Lifeguard position, candidates for Manager/Assistant Manager positions will be expected to have an easy manner in engaging with the staff and members of the pool, problem-solving as needs arise, and working supportively with the Pool Director.
