Garden Hills Pool & Park Association (GHPPA) Board of Director Elections are open from Friday, September 3rd to Sunday, September 19th at 2 p.m. Each GHPPA Member may cast one ballot upon which they can vote for up to 12 different nominees for the Board of Directors. Ballots are available at the check-in desk at the Garden Hills Pool House during regular operating hours.
The 12 nominees with the most votes are elected to the Board of Directors. Officers are appointed from the elected Board members and must have served on the Board for at least one year prior to becoming an officer.
Each nominee for the Board of Directors was asked to provide a biography not exceeding 100 words describing their qualifications to participate on the GHPPA Board of Directors. The following is the information that was provided:
Jack Alexander | Jack and his family have been members of the pool since 1989, and his 4 children, Sandy, Tom, Nick and Grace were all involved with managing the pool for many years. Since 1999, he has served on the pool board in several capacities, including President, 4 years as Treasurer, a term as Vice President and 8 years as coordinator of the Adult Swim team. Jack and his wife, Deirdra, thoroughly enjoy the pool and competing with the GHP Adult Team. Tami Jordan Brook | Tami Brook has lived in Garden Hills since the spring of 2003. She has been a member of the pool since 2004. She is a French teacher at The Westminster Schools. Also, she is a longstanding member of the Garden Hills Garden Club and is a past president and a past chairwoman of the Ice Cream Social. Tami is currently president of the Garden Hills Pool & Park Association Board. In addition, she serves on the Communications and Social Committees. Matt Dowhy | Matt Dowhy moved to Atlanta from Cincinnati OH in 2006 and is a Director of Customer Operations at The Coca-Cola Company. Matt, his wife Bree and their 2 daughters reside in Memorial Park and have been members of the Garden Hills Pool since 2013. Matt swam competitively throughout his elementary and high school career and most recently as a member of Garden Hills Adult Swim Team. |

Dave Kirshtein | Dave and his family Kim, Erin, and Eli moved into the neighborhood in 1985. In addition to being active with the Cool Sharks in their early years, Dave has a strong history with GHPPA, having done long stints as both President and Treasurer of the organization. He was heavily involved in major pool projects like the expansion of the pool’s deep end and was instrumental in rebuilding the Recreation Center after it burned down in 1999. Dave has earned his CPA and MBA in finance, managed forensic auditing operations for an international insurance group, and now heads Kirshtein Analytics, LLC. Amy Lambert | Amy and her family have been members of Garden Hills pool since 2011. She and her husband have three children who are all active members of the Cool Sharks swim team. Amy is also a member of the GHP adult team. She is currently the CFO for a private equity-backed telecom infrastructure company and has been on the Board of GHPPA since 2020. She is also an active volunteer at her kids’ school, Atlanta Classical Academy, having served as PTCA Treasurer for two years. | 2019-20 Board Member | ||
Dan Moriarty | Dan Moriarty moved to Atlanta from the Washington DC area in 1990 and moved to Garden Hills in November 2003. His wife Heidi and three boys have been members of Garden Hills Pool since 2004. In his late teens and early 20s, he managed a neighborhood pool in McLean, VA, the Hamlet Swim Club, overseeing staffing, swim lessons, and pool maintenance. His twin sons Jack and Kevin were members of the GHP swim team for 12 years and third son Will is still a Cool Shark swimmer and junior coach. He holds a BA and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Virginia. His professional background is in marketing and sales with the Walt Disney Company, Turner Broadcasting, Comcast and Fox Corp. | 2019-20 Board Member | ||
Kirsten Neufeld | Kirsten and her husband Bob moved to Garden Hills in 2001. They both compete with the Garden Hills Adult Team, reliving their youth and continuing with the sport that brought them together in the first place! Their daughters are 16 and 14, and have been on the Cool Sharks Swim Team since they were each 5 years old. Kirsten is the current Volunteer Coordinator for the team. The pool is her “happy place,” and she counts down the days until the pool opens each summer! This is her 2nd year on the pool board, serving as the website manager with the Communications committee, and helping with pool plantings. | 2019-20 Board Member | ||
Sarah Siedentopf | Sarah joined a swim team at age 7 and never looked back. She has spent many years with chlorine in her hair and looks forward to many more. She and her husband, Walt, are enthusiastic members of the GHP Adult Swim Team. Sarah owns a boutique law firm that focuses on estate planning and probate. She is an active member of the Atlanta Bar Association and is on the board of the Estate Planning and Probate Section as well as a past chair of the Elder Law Section. She also volunteers by taking cases through the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. | 2019-20 Board Member | ||
Aimee Smith | Aimee Murdock Smith is a long time city of Atlanta resident who is actively involved in the Garden Hills Pool and has served on the Board since 2011. She has over 20 years of Marketing and Human Resource experience. Aimee has served on the boards of FIRST robotics, Relay for Life and volunteered with over 30 organizations. Aimee is a graduate of the University of Georgia and works in Human Resources for Wesley Woods Senior Living. Aimee is married to an HR consultant and her daughters attend Atlanta Public Schools. | 2019-20 Board Member | ||
Megan Zurn | Megan Zurn moved to Garden Hills in 2013 and is a lawyer working for an insurance company in Buckhead. Megan swam year-round from elementary school through high school, and spent her high school summers coaching her neighborhood swim team and lifeguarding at nearby pools. In college, Megan participated in the Cornell women’s water polo intercollegiate club team and more recently has participated in the Garden Hills Adult Swim Team. Megan and her husband, Lawton, have three young children who attend schools in the neighborhood, and you can find them most summer evenings with their extended family at the GHP. Megan has completed non-profit board member training programs led by the University of Georgia as well as the Atlanta Women’s Foundation through its Women on Board initiative. | 2019-20 Board Member | ||
